Do you know the difference between single-head and double-head drilling and milling machines?

1. A single-head drilling and milling machine's spindle system is equipped with only one set of cutter heads. During machining, it can only perform one drilling or milling operation at a time. After completing one operation, it needs to switch to the next operation by changing tools or adjusting parameters.

A double-head drilling and milling machine is equipped with two sets of cutter heads and can carry different tools (such as one drill bit + one milling cutter, or two drill bits of different specifications). It supports synchronous or step-by-step machining: In synchronous mode, it can complete composite operations such as "drilling + milling" in one go; in step-by-step mode, it can continuously machine two different hole diameters/grooves without frequent tool changes.

2. Different machining efficiency. Single-head drilling and milling machines have lower machining efficiency, completing each operation one by one. Double-head drilling and milling machines have higher efficiency, completing composite operations synchronously, reducing tool change/adjustment time.

3. Different applicable scenarios. Single-head drilling and milling machines are suitable for small-batch, single-operation machining; double-head drilling and milling machines are suitable for large-batch, standardized composite operation machining.
